MBABANE-Love, pressure and choices in school take centre stage in a new local film.
A 15-minute educational film titled Tinyembeti Tiyakhuluma will be released on May 1, aiming to address challenges faced by pupils in schools and encourage them to focus on their studies.
The film, produced by Ayanda Bhembe, brings together a cast including Bayanda Bhembe, Bongiswa Dlamini, Phumlani Mthembu, Nothando Dlamini, Nonduduzo Hlatjwako and Mbekezeli Dlamini. It focuses on how relationships and poor communication can affect learners emotionally and academically.
Bhembe said the project was created to help pupils make better choices while still in school. He explained that many learners face pressure from relationships, which can lead to poor performance or even dropping out.
“I wanted to send a message that education should come first. Learners need to understand the impact of their decisions,” he said.
The idea for the film came from real-life situations observed in schools. Bhembe said he noticed that many pupils struggle with peer pressure, emotional stress and unfair treatment because of their backgrounds.
Production was done independently with little financial support. The team worked together with guidance from experienced creative Clifford Ndlovu to bring the story to life.
Actors in the film said the project also helped them grow and learn. Bayanda Bhembe said it opened his eyes to the importance of education, while Bongiswa Dlamini said it helped him understand the daily struggles faced by many learners.
The film is expected to reach young audiences and spark conversations about making better choices in school.
