MBABANE – Excitement is reaching fever pitch as the last 16 teams prepare to clash in the Ingwenyama Cup, promising a weekend filled with action-packed football and unforgettable moments.

Among the standout fixtures is the forces derby between defending champions Green Mamba and Royal Leopard. Fans are bracing for a thrilling rematch after the two sides played to a goalless draw during the first round of the MTN Premier League on January 11, 2025.

Although Leopard took home the E100 000 first-round incentive, Green Mamba is eager for revenge and determined to defend their title.

Another captivating encounter will see Moneni Pirates facing Rangers. The Pirates triumphed 1-0 in their January 12, 2025, Premier League clash against Rangers, and this rematch promises to reignite the rivalry. Elsewhere, Sisonkhe, making their Ingwenyama Cup debut, will host Illovo, while surprise entrants Nkwene Sundowns square off against the formidable Manzini Sea Birds, who advanced with a decisive 3-1 victory over Amawele in the last round.

Ezulwini United is set to take on Red Rhinos, who edged past Nsingizini Hotspurs 2-1, while Mbabane Swallows, last season’s runners-up, will battle CK Survivors. Other intriguing matches include Lozitha Spurs facing Madlenya and Young Buffaloes travelling to Pigg’s Peak to take on Rangers.

Green Mamba CEO Mandla Sibiya acknowledged the challenge of facing Royal Leopard but remains optimistic about their prospects. “It is not an easy draw, but we were prepared for any team. With diligent preparations, we believe we can advance,” he said.

On the other side, Royal Leopard’s Public Relations Officer Frank Hurube exuded confidence, emphasizing their determination to finally claim the Ingwenyama Cup. “This is one trophy we covet as a team. We firmly believe this is our year to bring it home,” he remarked.
