MBABANE – The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade in Eswatini is closely monitoring the recent decision by the United States to impose a 10% tariff increase on imports from the Kingdom.
According to a statement issued by the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade, Manqoba Khumalo, on April 3, 2025, officials have indicated that this development is expected to negatively impact local exporters.
The minister emphasized that the Ministry is conducting extensive consultations with all relevant stakeholders to determine which products will be affected by the new tariffs. He confirmed that once official communication about the list of impacted products is received, the Ministry will also get in touch with affected traders to discuss the implications and necessary steps forward.
The Eswatini Government reiterated its commitment to maintaining strong international trade relations with the United States and to fostering a business environment that supports economic resilience and growth. The Ministry assured that further updates on policy implications would be shared as developments unfold.
