MBABANE – Government has taken decisive action to protect the health and well-being of the nation.
The government announced on May 8, 2025, that it will intervene in the matter concerning the Eswatini Medical Aid Fund (EswatiniMed), ensuring that emaSwati continue to access vital medical services both locally and internationally. As a founding member and majority shareholder of EswatiniMed, the government emphasized its responsibility to shield the interests of patients who rely on the fund for their healthcare needs.
“We are stepping in not just as shareholders, but as caretakers of the nation’s health,” said Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo.
He assured the nation that the government’s intervention aims to develop a sustainable, long-term solution, all while respecting the legal processes currently underway in court.
Government’s swift action highlights its unwavering commitment to ensuring that the assets of the fund are protected and that no interruption occurs in the delivery of essential medical services. This move underscores the administration’s deep appreciation for the emaSwati who have supported EswatiniMed since its inception.
With this bold intervention, the government is sending a clear message: the health of the nation comes first. The public can rest assured that their access to medical care will remain safeguarded, as the government engages with all relevant stakeholders to chart a way forward.
This proactive stance not only secures current healthcare services but also builds confidence in the country’s ability to navigate complex challenges with resolve and care.
