MBABANE – The Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy, is targeting to make E237 648 692 during the 2024/25 financial year on various activities such as electricity levy, fuel oil levy, mining permits, and blasting licences, among other activities.
It is stated that the Ministry will also make money through stamp duties, office fees and other activities.
According to the 2024/25 First Quarter Performance Report of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy, the fuel oil levy will bring more money to the Ministry. This revenue item will account for E161 947 692 in this financial year.
This item generated E40 486 523 from April 2024 to June 2024, which is the first quarter of the 2024/25 financial year. The electricity levy will generate E54 400 000 to the Ministry this year and it has already made E13 600 000 during the 2024/25 first quarter.
The issuance of mining permits and blasting licences is expected to help the Ministry generate E1 million during the 2024/25 financial year. The issuance of mining permits and blasting licences has helped the Ministry generate E209 150 during the first quarter of this financial year.
Geological bulletins and maps will contribute E16 000 in a year to the Ministry and an amount of E4 670 has been generated by this revenue item to the Ministry from April 2024 to June 2024. Application fee for certificates of exemption or consent is expected to contribute E20 000 this year to the Ministry. An amount of E3 650 has been made as a result of issuing the certificates during the 2024/25 first quarter.
The Ministry is also expected to make E75 000 this year, in respect of application fees and granting of certificates of consent to subdivision of land. An amount of E15 750 has already been made from April to June 2024 in that respect. Stamp duty fees will generate E20 million for the Ministry during this financial year and it has already made E2 679 861 in the first quarter of 2024/25.
