MBABANE– A huge milestone for Grixxly!
Talented Eswatini born artist and producer Grixxly, born Sibusiso Malambe, is celebrating a significant milestone in his music career. His latest single, “Sheleni,” featuring Lyrikal Busta and Sarnilo, has been prominently featured on Spotify’s prestigious Fresh Finds playlist, with Grixxly himself gracing the cover of this globally recognized platform dedicated to emerging artists.
Spotify’s ‘Fresh Finds’ playlist is renowned for highlighting emerging talent across diverse genres, featuring around 50 new tracks weekly.
The inclusion of “Sheleni” on the Fresh Finds playlist comes shortly after the release of Grixxly’s highly anticipated mixtape, ‘Bear With Me,’ which has already amassed over 30,000 streams on Spotify within just ten days of its launch.
The mixtape showcases his distinctive blend of conscious rap and trap influences, reflecting his experimental approach to Hip-Hop. Known for his ability to fuse hard-hitting beats with introspective lyricism, Grixxly continues to redefine the boundaries of his craft, pushing the envelope of what hip-hop can encompass.
Following this significant milestone, Grixxly was invited for an interview on SABC’s Channel Africa show ‘On The Move,’ hosted by Palesa Tau and Benjamin Moshatama. During the engaging discussion, he delved into the creative process behind ‘Bear With Me,’ shared his inspirations, and expressed the importance of being featured on Spotify’s ‘Fresh Finds’.
‘Bear With Me’ is a 10-track mixtape that Grixxly describes as a collection of songs that showcase his diverse skill set. He aims to introduce new listeners to his music while offering them a glimpse into the various facets of his artistry. The project features an eclectic mix of genres, ranging from jazz-infused boom bap to African chant-infused Jersey club sounds, all within the umbrella genre of hip-hop.
He narrated, “I think the marketing and the contributions from the artists featured in the project, namely Oriiginelle, Pdot O, Amarii, Lyrikal Busta, Sarnilo, Swiss, and Mzwaa, all contributed to the making of these amazing songs that people resonate with,” Grixxly explained. “They played a great part in adding that extra spark to the songs. I also think the quality and the production of the songs played a pivotal role in the success.”
