LOBAMBA – The heart of Eswatini’s identity—its vibrant culture and passionate football—was on full display at the Ingwenyama Cup kit presentation, held at Nkhanini-Lobamba.
The event, filled with energy and unity, brought together officials, committee members, and football and cultural teams, highlighting the enduring connection between tradition and sport.
Dumisa Dlamini, Accident Prevention Manager, opened the event by emphasizing how the Ingwenyama Cup continues to celebrate Eswatini’s culture through football.
He reminded all that football is more than just a sport; it reflects who we are as a nation.
The Culture Committee Chairman expressed heartfelt gratitude to all in attendance, especially cultural group leaders. Their participation added significance, affirming the tournament’s mission of honoring Eswatini’s heritage alongside competitive football.
Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Chairman Polycarp Dlamini praised the unity among teams and organizers. He encouraged strong supporter turnout and stressed the importance of safety, noting that football is best enjoyed when everyone arrives safely and with high spirits.
Adding his voice of support, SMVAF CEO David Myeni expressed appreciation for the public’s attentiveness to safety messages throughout the tournament. He reassured attendees of the Fund’s full support as the tournament heads toward its thrilling finale. SMVAF Board Chairman Representative Bongani Zwane echoed this sentiment, commending the excellent preparations and wishing all teams the best.
The highlight came when His Royal Highness Prince Hlangabeza, representing Their Majesties, delivered an inspiring message. He reaffirmed Their Majesties’ dedication to supporting the teams with essential resources and encouraged players to give their all on the pitch. His Royal Highness emphasized that unity, celebration, and fair competition are core values of the Ingwenyama Cup and invited the public to contribute ideas for future enhancements.
The cultural showcase led by Nkosilenhle Masuku added a colorful touch to the proceedings. Introducing the culture teams, he emphasized the importance of cultural representation and the harmony between tradition and modern sport. The football team presentations that followed set the stage for an exciting journey to the finals.
With strong collaboration from all stakeholders and a shared commitment to excellence, the Ingwenyama Cup continues to be a shining symbol of national pride.
