MBABANE – The country’s international players Lindo Mkhontfo and Mxolisi Mkhontfo will play their CAF Inter-clubs competitions games at the National Stadium, Gaborone, Botswana.
First will be Jwaneng Galaxy’s Mxolisi Mkhontfo whose side will be hosting Namibia’s African Stars in the CAF Champions League first preliminary round on Saturday at 3pm then Lindo Mkhontfo’s side Zambia’s Zesco United will face Zimbabwe’s Dynamos at the same venue the following day (Sunday, August 18, 2024).
Both Namibia’s African Stars and Zimbabwe’s Dynamos are not having a Confederations of African Football (CAF) approved stadiums, they have to host their home games away from home with both going for the National Stadium in Botswana.
The two international players are the only one from the four to play in the CAF Inter-Clubs competitions being the CAF Confederations Cup and the CAF Champions League.
The duo of Botswana’s BDF XI Sporting Club Banele ‘Stiga’ Ndzabandzaba and South Africa Richards Bay Justice Figareido are out of the competitions as their clubs failed to qualify for the continental tournaments.
The country’s CAF envoys, Mbabane Swallows and Nsingizini Hotspurs are both heading to South Africa for their first leg preliminary rounds against Mozambique’s Clube Ferroviario da Beira and South Africa’s Stellenbosch FC respectively.
