NKHANINI– The 2026 SMVAF Ingwenyama Cup has received royal blessing as excitement builds ahead of the grand final scheduled for May 10, 2026 at Somhlolo National Stadium, following the official unveiling of match kits and traditional imvunulo in Nkhanini.
On behalf of His Majesty King Mswati III, Ingwenyama Cup Chairman HRH Prince Hlangabeza officially presented the soccer kits and imvunulo, marking a symbolic moment of royal endorsement and cultural pride.
The ceremony brought together football, culture, and national leadership, marking a significant moment in the build-up to one of Eswatini’s most prestigious sporting events. The finalists, Green Mamba FC and Nsingizini Hotspurs, were formally presented in their official kits, signalling readiness for the decisive clash.
The event carried strong royal and institutional presence, reinforcing the tournament’s cultural and national importance as sport and tradition merged through the unveiling of imvunulo alongside the kits.
The ceremony was graced by Ingwenyama Cup Chairman HRH Prince Hlangabeza, Prince Bonginkosi, and Minister for Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Bongani Nzima, alongside SMVAF CEO Khangeziwe Mabuza, PLE CEO Pat Vilakati, and other key stakeholders from football and cultural committees.
HRH Prince Hlangabeza expressed appreciation to all working committees and sponsor SMVAF for their dedication to the Ingwenyama Cup. He emphasised that the tournament belongs to all emaSwati, calling for respect, unity, and dignified participation throughout the competition.
He applauded all participating teams for their efforts, wishing them well ahead of the final, and stressing that in the spirit of the Ingwenyama Cup, everyone is a winner.
His Royal Highness also urged the nation to strictly observe road safety precautions during the tournament period, highlighting the importance of protecting lives as celebrations continue.
Meanwhile, Ingwenyama Cup PRO Nkosilenhle Masuku conducted the official presentation programme, providing key logistical updates ahead of the final. He reminded the nation that tickets remain available at official outlets announced by PLE, with gates set to open at 06:30 a.m. on finals day.
Masuku further noted that the programme will commence at 07:00 a.m. with the cultural competition, urging all participants and stakeholders to keep time.
He also confirmed that tickets purchased since last week will remain valid for the final on 10 May 2026 at Somhlolo National Stadium.
He concluded by wishing all finalists success at Somhlolo, as anticipation continues to build for a thrilling and historic final.
With preparations now complete, attention now turns fully to Somhlolo National Stadium, where the 2026 Ingwenyama Cup Final is expected to deliver both sporting excellence and cultural unity.
