NGABEZWENI – His Majesty King Mswati III, HRH Princess Sakhizwe, this evening commissioned maidens at Ngabezweni Royal Residence to go and cut the reed.
The maidens will carry out this important cultural duty at Mpisi Farm and Bhamusakhe, marking the beginning of the reed-gathering process.
The commissioning is part of the rich cultural preparations leading up to the annual Umhlanga Reed Dance, one of Eswatini’s most cherished traditions. This ceremony continues to highlight the strength of Eswatini’s heritage while uniting the nation’s young women in service and celebration of culture.
