NHLANGANO – A spirit of gratitude, unity, and national pride filled the air as His Majesty King Mswati III delivered a powerful address during his 57th birthday celebration, coinciding with the nation’s Flag Day.

Speaking to a sea of dignitaries, citizens, and international guests, the King reflected on 39 years of remarkable progress under his leadership. He thanked God for His guidance and praised the unwavering support of the Emaswati, describing them as the “roots that nourish our mighty tree.”

In a speech rich with hope and reflection, His Majesty outlined Eswatini’s incredible journey — from a GDP of E1.5 billion in 1986 to a thriving E70 billion economy today. He celebrated milestones such as the construction of world-class infrastructure, significant achievements in education, healthcare, rural electrification, and the expansion of the country’s economic landscape.

“Together, we have made significant strides, steering Eswatini towards progress in political, economic, and social spheres, all under our unique Tinkhundla system of governance,” he said.

The King acknowledged the presence of esteemed guests, including former Presidents Jacob Zuma and Joseph Kabila, as well as His Majesty Seretse Khama Ian Khama, emphasizing the importance of international friendships in strengthening national development.

Highlighting recent projects like the completion of the Nhlangano-Sicunusa Road and the expansion of the region’s industrial area, His Majesty reaffirmed his vision for a decentralized, inclusive transformation agenda aimed at empowering every corner of the Kingdom.

While celebrating Eswatini’s successes, the King urged vigilance against global economic challenges, calling on the nation to diversify markets, boost local industries, and maintain resilience.

Above all, His Majesty called on all Emaswati to safeguard peace — describing it as the greatest birthday gift a nation could offer.

“Peace is the bedrock of all development,” he affirmed. “It allows us to focus on uplifting our people and advancing our transformation agenda.”

Concluding with heartfelt appreciation for all who contributed to the celebration, His Majesty inspired the nation with a message of unity and hope: “Together, we will continue to build an Eswatini that shines as a beacon of hope and progress.”

As Eswatini prepares to mark the King’s 40th anniversary of reign next year, the nation stands proud, stronger and more united than ever.
