MATSAPHA – His Majesty King Mswati III has promoted six officers within the Eswatini National Fire, Rescue and Emergency Service (ENFRES) to the rank of Divisional Officer to fill vacancies created by the deaths of senior personnel.

The promotions were announced during the third edition of the National Fire Day celebration held at Matsapha International Airport, where the King emphasised the importance of maintaining an effective and fully operational fire and emergency service.

His Majesty said he had learnt that vacancies had arisen following the passing of some personnel and that these needed to be filled to ensure the continued efficiency of the service.

He explained that the promotions would help address the gaps in the organisational structure and support the service in carrying out its responsibilities of protecting lives and property.

The six newly promoted Divisional Officers are Mpendulo David Dlamini, Musa V Simelane, Thulani Hlatshwayo, Bheki Vilakati, Phindile Tembe and Patience Nkonyane.

The appointments come as ENFRES continues to strengthen its capacity to respond to fires, road traffic accidents, rescue operations and other emergencies across the Kingdom.

During his address, the King called for continued investment in the service’s operational capacity, including appropriate firefighting equipment, emergency vehicles and professional training to prepare officers for increasingly complex assignments.

He also commended fire and emergency personnel for their bravery, dedication and commitment, noting that their work often required them to respond to dangerous situations to save lives.

The National Fire Day celebration marked the third edition of the event and was held under the theme, “Advancing Fire Safety, Rescue, and National Service in the Spirit of Agape Love.”
