KING’S CUP GOLF TOURNAMENT IN SEPTEMBER 5 TO 8

MBABANE – The King’s Cup, golf tournament set for September 5 to 8, 2024 is expected to attract international golfers.

The tournament was officially launched today (Wednesday, August 7, 2024) by Minister of Tourism and Environment Jane Mkhonta-Simelane at Mountain View, Mbabane. The trophy for the champions was also unveiled.

The tournament is expected to be played at the Ezulwini Golf Course (Royal Swazi Golf Course). Mkhonta-Simelane said the golfers would come from the Southern African countries including South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia among others.

“We are expecting golfers from the Southern African region and beyond. There would be a pre-qualifier tournament before the main tournament. There are huge prizes to be won and we invited Emaswati to come in their numbers to support the tournament,” she said.

Mkhonta-Simelane highlighted that the tournament boast the country in terms of tourism and domestic tourism. She said the country was ready to hosts the guest and the spectators.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Organising Committee Sam ‘Styles’ Richards said in the month of September, it would be golf harvesting time as golfers will spend the first week of September playing golf.

The Kings Cup is an annual event hosted in the country through the Eswatini Golf Union in partnership with corporate companies. International golfers and tourists from all over the world attend this event which its Patron is His Majesty King Mswati III.
