MBABANE – Liqoqo has been hailed for taking a bold step in the intervention on the operations of the Eswatini Commercial Amadoda.

According to Liqoqo, Eswatini Commercial Amadoda is playing a very important role in the country, which includes giving licences to people who want to do businesses on Eswatini Nation Land. The organisation gives licences especially to those doing business in the retail and transport sectors.

Speaking to Eswatini TV, Liqoqo Chairman Paul Dlamini said it did not sit well with them as a council that Eswatini Commercial Amadoda was no longer operating smoothly due to disputes, which, at some point, forced them to approach the High Court in December last year for intervention.

The chairman mentioned that the High Court directed that Eswatini Commercial Amadoda should approach the rightful structures, where their matters could be resolved, as it was formed under Eswatini Law and Custom. Dlamini said this organisation was formed to work on behalf of His Majesty the King in granting licences to Emaswati to work on Eswatini Nation Land.

Dlamini said during their meeting, they all agreed that Eswatini Commercial Amadoda would continue to work as required by its mandate and following its constitution. Dlamini said the organisation still had a lot of work to do in helping business people improve their businesses and all the industries, including the retail and transport industries.

The chairman said in developed countries, such industries were developed in a way that it was easy for people to access services from these industries. He noted that because Eswatini also had goals of becoming a first world country, it would be important for Emaswati to easily access services from industries under Eswatini Commercial Amadoda’s supervision.

Albert Mbuyisa of Eswatini Commercial Amadoda also confirmed that they did have a meeting with Liqoqo. He said after approaching the High Court last year, the court advised them to seek audience with the rightful forum, as they were formed according to Eswatini Law and Customs.

Mbuyisa, speaking to Eswatini TV, said it was for that reason why they sought audience with Liqoqo, which reminded them that Eswatini Commercial Amadoda was an organisation belonging to the king. Therefore, they had to be mindful of the fact that when working for this organisation, they had to be diligent and know they were helping Emaswati on behalf of His Majesty.
