MALOMA– Employees of Maloma Colliery have embraced a new corporate identity as “Vision Carriers” following a powerful address by Chief Executive Officer Jabu Shabangu during the company’s monthly prayer meeting held on March 2,2026.
The gathering, held in the company courtyard, brought together management and staff for reflection, motivation and alignment with the organisation’s strategic direction.
The key message of the day centred on conviction, resilience and collective responsibility in driving the company’s vision forward.
Delivering the sermon, Pastor Celumusa Gumedze encouraged employees to remain steadfast during difficult times, drawing inspiration from the Biblical account of Samson in Judges 14:14. He reminded workers that challenges often precede opportunity, urging them to find “sweetness” in their struggles just as Samson found honey after defeating the lion.
He further referenced the victory of David over Goliath and the Israelites’ journey from Egypt to Canaan, reinforcing the message that faith and determination are essential to overcoming obstacles. The pastor prayed for personal breakthroughs for employees and prosperity for the company.
In her address, Jabu Shabangu reaffirmed the company’s spiritual and operational vision under the umbrella of Inyatsi Group Holdings, stressing that success requires conviction rather than mere agreement.
She highlighted Maloma Colliery’s resilience despite industry pressures, noting that demand for its anthracite coal continues to rise at a time when several coal mines in neighbouring South Africa have ceased operations.
“We are not just surviving; we are growing,” said Jabu Shabangu, applauding employees for their dedication and contribution to the company’s sustained performance.
The CEO also announced a significant milestone a two-year supply contract with Richards Bay Minerals describing it as a testament to Maloma Colliery’s excellence and reliability in the market.
Jabu Shabangu further showcased the inspirational journey of employee Zandile Nhlabatsi, who rose from belt sweeper to cleaner while pursuing additional qualifications in plumbing and computer studies. Her story, management said, reflects the company’s commitment to employee development and self-improvement.
Chief Operations Officer Thuba Skonela urged employees to work tirelessly towards achieving production targets and aligning themselves with company objectives, while Finance Manager Nomcebo Shiba Mngometulu clarified the importance of conviction in driving both spiritual and corporate growth.
Concluding the meeting, Jabu Shabangu officially declared all employees “Vision Carriers”, emphasising that they are ambassadors of the company’s mission and key drivers of its future success.
The session ended on an upbeat note, with employees leaving motivated and united in purpose, ready to advance Maloma Colliery’s vision in an evolving mining landscape.
