MBABANE – A determined bid to reclaim their spot!

Manzini Wanderers have launched a proactive legal effort to secure a place in the 2025 Ingwenyama Cup.

The team filed an urgent application before the High Court on Wednesday, seeking a fair resolution to their exclusion from the tournament, which is set to begin on Saturday, January 18, with the grand opening scheduled for Sunday.

Manzini Wanderers believe their exclusion from the prestigious tournament was an oversight and are determined to ensure fairness for their team and supporters. The draw held on Monday revealed 31 participating teams, with one team, Sisonkhe, placed on standby.

Wanderers assert that they are equally deserving of inclusion, given their historical contributions to Eswatini football.

Team officials, present during the draw, promptly acted to address the matter through legal channels. The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, January 16, at 9:30 AM at the High Court in Mbabane, showcasing the team’s commitment to resolving the issue amicably.

Despite current challenges, Manzini Wanderers remain a cornerstone of Eswatini football. While they are not currently participating in any league, including the MTN Premier League and the MTN National First Division League, they are actively working toward restoring their position. The team is also preparing for a Supreme Court hearing on February 10, 2025, which could mark a significant step forward.

The Ingwenyama Cup is not just a football tournament but a celebration of culture and unity. Manzini Wanderers’ determination to be part of this prestigious event reflects their commitment to contributing to the sport and inspiring their supporters.

The court’s decision on Thursday will not only impact Wanderers but also set a precedent for ensuring fairness and inclusion in Eswatini football. Regardless of the outcome, Manzini Wanderers’ proactive approach demonstrates their resilience and dedication to upholding the spirit of competition.

As the team continues to navigate these challenges, their efforts highlight the importance of perseverance and the pursuit of excellence in Eswatini’s beloved sport.
