MBABANE – It was a sunlit day of determination and elegance at the Mbabane Golf Club, where the 2025 Mbabane Golf Open unfolded as more than just a tournament — it became a celebration of Eswatini’s rising golf spirit.
Leading the charge was Mfundo Nxumalo, who dazzled the crowd with a commanding overall gross score of 154, earning him the champion’s trophy. Beaming with pride, Nxumalo shared his excitement and used his victory platform to encourage young Emaswati to pick up the sport. “Golf is a sport I encourage all Emaswati to venture into,” he said, emphasizing its power to foster discipline and personal growth.
The competition was fierce but friendly, with Siboniso Simelane capturing second place with a solid 156. Not far behind, Nkululeko Mngometulu and reigning club champion Valentine Maziya tied at third with 158, showing just how tight the race was among these top-tier players.
In the B Division, Cosmo Mthethwa, the club’s dedicated Vice Captain, claimed victory with a notable 164, while committee member Sandile Chonco followed as runner-up with 170, reflecting the depth of talent and passion in the field.
The Mbabane Golf Open continues to be a cherished highlight in Eswatini’s sporting calendar, where seasoned players and emerging talents meet to celebrate excellence, resilience, and sportsmanship.
