MBABANE – Mhlatane High School, Lusoti Primary School, and Nceka Primary School emerged as the champions in their respective categories during the KFC Scara Thindwa Soccer Tournament Finals held at Somhlolo National Stadium on Saturday (July 13, 2024).
The second edition of the Scara Thindwa Soccer Tournament, generously sponsored by KFC with a substantial E900 000, came to a close with the grand finale match, where Nceka Primary School emerged victorious against the 2023 edition runners-up Ngwane High School, in the ladies Under 17 category. The third-place play-off saw last edition champions, Mdzimba High School, securing the third position, after dominating Mpakeni High School with a commanding 4-0 win.
In the Under 13 category, Lusoti Primary School clinched a narrow 1-0 victory over Elulakeni Primary School, in a thrilling final match. St Mark’s Primary School secured third place by defeating Manzini Central Primary with another close 1-0 scoreline.
Meanwhile, the Under 15 category witnessed Mhlatane High School triumph over Lamawandla High School by 2-1, marking a significant achievement for the team. The third-place play-offs was equally intense, with Our Lady of Sorrows winning 5-4 on penalties against Duze High School, demonstrating the high level of competition and skills in this category.
The KFC Scara Thindwa Soccer Tournament serves as a vital platform for young athletes to showcase their abilities, emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork and Community support. The substantial sponsorship from KFC underscores the commitment to nurturing youth sports and providing opportunities for young talents to excel.
