MBABANE – A Boost for Community Development.

Minister of Tinkhundla Administration Sikhumbuzo Dlamini has handed over income-generating projects worth E3 million to the Kukhanyeni Constituency in the Manzini Region.

The handover took place on January 15, 2025, and the projects were funded through the Regional Development Fund (RDF).

The projects include:

  1. A tipper truck worth E2.1 million for the Zamokuhle Multipurpose Cooperative.
  2. A light-duty truck valued at E800,000 for the Ithemba Lethu Multipurpose Cooperative.
  3. Tents, chairs, and pots valued at E77,000 for the Thuthuka Mbeka Multipurpose Association.

Speaking at the event, Dlamini highlighted the role of his Ministry in facilitating and coordinating development initiatives to empower communities. He emphasized that the RDF was initiated by His Majesty King Mswati III with the primary aim of alleviating poverty among Emaswati.

“Through this fund, we have mobilized various groups to establish income-generating projects within their communities. These projects provide high-quality infrastructure and material resources, ensuring sustainable livelihoods and contributing to national economic growth,” the minister stated.

Dlamini also noted that the successful completion of these projects demonstrates the Ministry’s commitment to enhancing economic opportunities and fostering transformative development across the Kingdom of Eswatini.

The minister urged Emaswati to take advantage of financial opportunities such as the RDF, which are readily available through Tinkhundla centres. He thanked the RDF Committee, RDF Technical Committee, Community Development Unit, Microprojects Unit, Inkhundla Council, and all stakeholders for their collaborative efforts in making these projects a reality.

The event was attended by Manzini Regional Administrator Chief Gija and Kukhanyeni Member of Parliament (MP) Appollo Maphalala. Both expressed gratitude to His Majesty’s Government for its unwavering support in bringing income-generating projects to the people at the constituency level.

The handover marks a significant milestone in empowering local communities and enhancing economic stability in the region.
