MBABANE – The Ministry of Health has received surgical equipment valued at E260,000 from the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
Minister of Health Mduduzi Matsebula received the equipment at the Taiwanese Embassy in Mbabane, where it was donated by a delegation from the North American Taiwanese Medical Association (NATMA), led by Taiwan’s Ambassador, Jeremy Liang. The NATMA team made a courtesy visit, bringing with them essential medical supplies intended for use in operating theatres.
During the event, Minister Matsebula expressed his heartfelt gratitude for what he called a timely donation, highlighting that it symbolised Taiwan’s unwavering support and commitment to the work being done in Eswatini’s healthcare sector.
He noted that the equipment had arrived at a crucial time when hospitals needed it most, and he was confident it would significantly enhance the health of Emaswati, especially in operating theatres where such equipment is frequently utilised.
Ambassador Liang stated that the donation illustrated Taiwan’s dedication to ensuring that all citizens, particularly those in rural areas, have access to quality healthcare. He affirmed that this gesture demonstrated Taiwan’s commitment to maintaining strong bilateral relations with Eswatini.
Minister Matsebula further thanked Taiwan for their generous contributions, acknowledging their commitment to fostering relations with Eswatini. He pointed out that Taiwan had recently donated materials to assist cancer patients, which would enable medical practitioners to provide care more efficiently.
