MBABANE – A 67-year-old Mkhulu will now spend the rest of his life in a proper shelter, safe from harsh weather conditions.
Msindazwe Dlamini is now one of the luckiest elderly people in the Kingdom of Eswatini after Lobamba Member of Parliament (MP) Michael Masilela built Dlamini a house worth over E30 000, at Nkhanini.
On Saturday (July 27, 2024) MP Masilela handed over the newly constructed house to Dlamini, who had been sleeping in a structure under bad conditions that left him vulnerable to the cold and harsh weather.
Masilela stated that he decided to build the house after visiting the homestead where Dlamini lived and discovering that he was living in extremely poor conditions. “Upon learning about the elderly man’s condition, I was deeply moved and decided to take action. Recognizing the urgency of the situation and the need to provide immediate relief, I gathered the support of other community members in the area to come together and make a difference in Dlamini’s life,” Masilela said.
Masilela also mentioned that through their dedication and hard work, the team successfully built a safe and comfortable home for Dlamini, ensuring that he no longer had to endure the harsh conditions that had previously affected him. “The completion of the new house not only provided Dlamini with secure shelter but also restored his dignity and sense of belonging within the community,” he said.
Nkhanini Bucopho Mfan’futhi Fakudze expressed gratitude for the assistance given to the elderly man, stating that the new house would improve his living conditions and allow him to rest comfortably.
“We are thankful for the help provided to Mkhulu Dlamini because he truly needed it. His previous shelter was in terrible condition; he was sleeping in a structure made of corrugated metal sheets, even during the cold winter. This new house will be a great help to him,” Fakudze said.
