ONE-DAY CAMPAIGN FOR CHAIRMANSHIP NOMINEES IN PLE ELECTIONS

MBABANE – The five candidates that will stand for the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Chairmanship position have only August 3, 2024 to campaign.

Each of the nominees that comprise of Mark Carmichael, Polycarp Dlamini, Charles Matsebula, Sibusiso ‘Scorpion’ Nxumalo and Victor Rodrigues will be given 20 minutes (15 minutes speech and five minutes for questions).

Each will address the media telling the world what they will do for football under the position nominated for. The campaign program will start at 10am and end at Noon at a venue yet to be announced in due course.

This was said by the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Ethics Committee Vice Chairperson Phumzile Thomo on Friday when announcing the PLE Executive nominees, with the elections billed for August 10, 2024 at a venue yet to be confirmed.

The other nominees for the Vice President and Executive Member are not allowed to campaign.

“Any other form of campaigns (for all positions) is strictly prohibited, whether those acts are done directly by the nominees or indirectly by their purported agents.

The Committee wishes to assure the public of its commitment to hold free and fair election, which promotes principles of transparency without any conflict of interest,” she said.

The committee added that persons who will be part of the elections shall not accept, give, offer, promise, receive, request or solicit any personal or undue pecuniary or other advantage in pursuance of gaining an advantage in the elections. The committee added that persons shall refrain from soliciting votes or undertaking any propaganda for or against any candidates.
