MBABANE – Players who will be playing in the Tinkhundla Under-20 Football Tournament have been advised that only Identity Cards (ID’s) are allowed for players to register.

This comes after some players produced Birth Certificate in the first two games that were played on Saturday under the Manzini Region. The tournament Organising Committee Chairman Sifiso Shabalala said players who failed to prouduce their ID’s wont be allowed to play.

“Birth Certificate does not have a picture to prove one’s identity while the ID’s it is easy to confirm that it belongs to you. We urge all the players who will be playing in the tournament to produce their ID instead of Birth Certificates,” he said.

Shabalala who was speaking with Eswatini TV Sports said they will also not allow players registered with the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) even for the development teams to take part in the tournament.

He said the Tinkhundla Tournament was for unleashing talent and if you already play in the PLE it means you talent has already been identified.

The Tinkhundla tournament will see over 20 games played all over the country in the first round of the knockout tournament. All the Tinkhundla Centre from the four regions will get under way on Saturday with few centres not in action as they are standbys.

The games will kick-off at 2pm almost in all the venues while a security check at the playing venues is 9am. All teams are expected to arrive at venues at noon with warm up starting an hour late.
