OVER 1000 SENIOR CITIZENS GETS FREE MEDICAL CHECK UP

MBABANE – Over 1 000 elderly people and children received free medical check-ups and treatment during an Elderly Health Day held at Millenium Park on Saturday (July 13, 2024).

This was made possible by Philani Maswati Charity Organisation, in partnership with the Municipal Council of Manzini. Present at the event was Minister Jane Mkhonta-Simelane. She was representing Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Thulisile Dladla. Mkhonta-Simelane praised the partnership with the Ministry of Health for providing medical experts to ensure early detection of diseases among the elderly.

“All these efforts compliment the work of the office in making the lives of vulnerable people better, thus improving their quality of life. Programme Director, the partnership by Philani Maswati and Manzini City Council is applauded. The biggest braai for 2024 is scheduled to take place next week here in Manzini,” she said.

 

The Minister expressed her appreciation for Philani Maswati Charity Organisation who played an important role by supporting the needy elderly individuals, rural youth, and women with food, housing, and medical care. Also in attendance was the Manzini City Mayor Goodwill Zwelithini Dlamini. He acknowledged these efforts, highlighting the importance of caring for vulnerable populations.

Looking ahead, Minister Mkhonta-Simelane has encouraged the community and local businesses to support events like the biggest braai, which aims to raise funds to improve the quality of life for the elderly. These initiatives show a strong commitment to enhancing community health and support for the elderly.
