MBABANE – Government informs the nation that they should not fall for elements wanting to sow division regarding the Phase II matter of the junior security service officers, as this matter is still discussed in Parliament.
This was said by Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo, in a statement issued today (Friday, October 11, 2024). This is the matter where the junior security officers from the three want their salaries to be increased, among other issues they want to be resolved.
“Government is aware of moves by certain elements to sow discord between Government and junior Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) and His Majesty’s Correctional Services (HMCS) officers regarding the matter of the Phase II Restructuring exercise,” Nxumalo said.
He said Government wished to bring it to the attention of the nation that this matter was currently being discussed within Parliament. Therefore, the Ministry of Public Service would be delivering a report on this matter to Parliament in a date yet to be determined.
He further mentioned that His Majesty’s Government valued the contribution of all security services in the country and, therefore, assured junior police and correctional officers that the administration was alive to their concerns. Nxumalo said Government would continue to seek and pursue solutions to ensure that they received the support necessary for them to operate efficiently.
