MBABANE – This morning, the Philani Maswati Charity Organization visited the Msunduza Main Market to promote the much-anticipated Mbabane Crossover Event, scheduled for December 31 at the Prince of Wales Sports Grounds.
The event, set to be a first-of-its-kind show, aims to raise funds for elderly people in the Mbabane community, with support from local representatives and organisations.
Philani Maswati Chairperson Lutfo Dlamini addressed a gathering of market vendors during a press briefing, urging them to seize the opportunity and book stalls to sell food at the event. He emphasised that the Crossover Event would feature two segments: a daytime exercise session led by South African trainer Nkhululeko Dlamini, in collaboration with event sponsor Shukuma Swaziland, and a lively evening program with local and international artists performing on stage.
“The event is designed to offer something for everyone, from fitness enthusiasts to music lovers,” said Dlamini. “By having a presence at the Crossover Event, vendors can showcase their products and make a meaningful contribution to the success of the event.”
During the press conference, Philani Maswati members showed their support for the vendors by purchasing breakfast from over 15 women in attendance. Dlamini expressed gratitude for the local market and called on other organizations to consider using the market structure for meetings, as this would promote local businesses and help vendors earn money to support their families.
In addition to promoting the event, Dlamini took the opportunity to thank Her Majesty the Queen Mother, Indlovukazi, for her ongoing support for EmaSwati and the elderly, noting her significant contributions to the community.
Mbabane East Inkhundla representative Phindile Maziya, who was present at the briefing, spoke enthusiastically about the event’s potential benefits for the people of Mbabane. “We are excited about the upcoming Crossover Event and how it will positively impact the people of our community,” Maziya said. She also encouraged the Municipal Council of Mbabane to consider allowing vendors to sell indigenous chickens at the event, citing their popularity and profitability.
“We urge everyone to support the Crossover Event,” Dlamini added. “The funds raised will go towards assisting the elderly in Mbabane, and every contribution will make a difference.”
The evening program will feature a stellar lineup of local and international artists, ensuring an unforgettable experience for attendees. Among the performers are award-winning gospel artist Sipho Makhabane, Mduduzi Ncube, Linda Dlamini, Sbu the Drum DJ, Nothando Dlamini, and Shiba and the Travellers. The musical performances will add excitement to the evening and complement the day’s activities.
On behalf of the Msunduza market vendors, Tanele Khumalo expressed gratitude for the support from Philani Maswati, highlighting how the press conference itself provided a financial boost. “We are thankful for this opportunity, and we are ready to provide the best meals at the Crossover Event,” Khumalo said. “This support will help us grow and attract more people to our stalls.”
Representatives from the Municipal Council of Mbabane, local Inkhundla members, event sponsors, and journalists were also in attendance. Sponsors for the event include EBet, Shukuma Swaziland, Global Village, and Taste of Africa.
As the Mbabane Crossover Event approaches, both organizers and local vendors are eager to make the event a success, not only for entertainment but also to help support and uplift the elderly members of the Mbabane community.
