MBABANE – The captains of the eight remaining teams in the Ingwenyama Cup have all pledged to deliver a spectacular display of football during the quarter-finals, which will take place over the weekend, Saturday and Sunday.
They have invited fans to attend in large numbers for the double headers scheduled at Mavuso Sports Centre on Saturday and Mayaluka Stadium on Sunday. Supporters will be required to pay E50 for each double header.
The players made their remarks during the presentation of the soccer kits on Thursday at Nkhanini Offices, Lobamba.
Mbabane Swallows Captain Kingsley Kwakyi stated that they are fully prepared for the match and will not underestimate Lozitha Spurs, the only remaining team in the Ingwenyama Cup that is competing in the National First Division.
“We invite our supporters to come in their numbers on Saturday at Mavuso Sports Centre. We believe that we will make them happy,” he said.
Mbabane Swallows will face Lozitha Spurs at Mavuso Sports Centre on Saturday, with kick-off at 3:30pm. This match will be followed by Manzini Sea Birds, who will take on Moneni Pirates at 6pm.
Young Buffaloes Captain Sihlangu Mkhwanazi mentioned that while they are still finalising their preparations, they will be ready to face Illovo on Sunday at 1pm.
“At this stage, there is no easy game. Our focus is on the match against Illovo, and we will approach each game as it comes, but we are hopeful that we will progress to the semi-finals,” he said.
Moneni Pirates Captain Menzi ‘Magawugawu’ Simelane expressed that it has been their dream to win the Ingwenyama Cup trophy, and they now feel it is the right time. He added that they will not dwell on past results but will instead look forward to the upcoming match against Manzini Sea Birds.
Meanwhile, Royal Leopard Captain Muzi ‘Mzoro’ Dlamini said it is their dream to win the Ingwenyama Cup as it is the only trophy missing in their cabinet. They play Ezulwini United on Sunday at Mayaluka Stadium, kick-off 3:30pm.
