MBABANE – Minister of Natural Resources and Energy, Prince Lonkhokhela, is attending a renewable energy assembly in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy, the minister and his delegation are participating in the 15th session of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Assembly. This event unites top officials from IRENA’s 169 member states, the European Union (EU), and 14 countries in accession. It is the leading intergovernmental organization dedicated to advancing the global transition to renewable energy.
IRENA provides expertise, technical assistance, capacity building, and project and investment facilitation. The agency fosters international cooperation and partnerships to combat climate change, promote sustainable development, ensure energy access, and enhance energy security and economic resilience.
Joining the Assembly alongside Prince Lonkhokhela is His Excellency Sifiso Dlamini, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Eswatini to the UAE, as well as other esteemed officials from Eswatini.
This year’s Assembly, themed “Accelerating the Renewable Energy Transition – The Way Forward,” has convened a diverse audience, including ministers from IRENA member states, high-level delegates, academics, development banks, CEOs, and youth leaders. The event aims to encourage collaboration across sectors and accelerate the clean energy transition. During the Assembly, member states will receive updates on the progress of IRENA’s work programs and address administrative matters.
His Royal Highness Prince Lonkhokhela is expected to share insights on Eswatini’s progress and experiences in its renewable energy transition. As a committed member of the IRENA community, Eswatini continues to contribute to global efforts in advancing clean energy and building a sustainable future.
