RED CROSS ASSISTS 126 RESIDENTS AFFECTED BY HEAVY RAINS

MBABANE – The Baphalali Eswatini Red Cross Society (BERCS) has extended crucial aid to 126 individuals impacted by recent heavy rains across Eswatini.

As of this report, the organization has reached over 15 households in the Shiselweni and Lubombo regions. According to BERCS Public Relations Officer (PRO), Nontobeko Dlamini, assessments will continue, ensuring assistance reaches all affected individuals.

In the Shiselweni Region, BERCS supported six households in Mathendele, aiding 25 residents. In Makhosini, aid reached three households, benefiting 15 people. Assistance was also provided to five households across Khiza, Mahlalini, and Zombodze Emuva, supporting 25 people—10 in Khiza, 10 in Mahlalini, and 5 in Zombodze Emuva. Altogether, 65 residents in Shiselweni received support, including seven tarpaulins. In Mathendele, tents were pitched to address structural damage and water intrusion in homes.

In the Hhohho Region, BERCS assisted 20 individuals from four households in Nginamadvolo. Additionally, one household in Nsangwini was supported, while five affected individuals from Hawane, Mpolonjeni, Corinte, and Mahwalala received relief items. Distributed supplies included five tents, one tarpaulin, and two blankets.

 

Earlier reports indicated that BERCS provided aid valued at E357,985 to households in the Shiselweni and Hhohho regions, reaching at least 55 individuals.
