MBABANE – Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati has urged parents to protect their children, especially young girls, in light of recent cases where children have gone missing and were later found dead.

Recently, The Times of Eswatini reported a heartbreaking incident involving Tibusiso (4) and Siphosetho Shongwe (5), who went missing last Saturday at Gobholo. Who were later found dead inside a motor vehicle at a neighboring homestead.

During the EBIS celebration of its 59th anniversary held at Mandlangempisi Inkhundla, Mayiwane Member of Parliament Sicelo “Khungankhosi” Dlamini raised concern over the growing number of missing girls who are later found dead, noting that this trend is especially common in the Hhohho region.

Additionally, this publication reported that on May 9, men and women in Mankayane gathered for a gender-based violence (GBV) dialogue aimed at raising awareness and empowering the community to take action against GBV. The dialogue concluded with a strong call for unity and shared responsibility in creating safer communities.

In an interview with EBIS, Swaziland Action Group Against Abuse (SWAGAA) Executive Director Nonhlanhla Dlamini expressed alarm over the rising cases of violence. She strongly condemned acts of taking one’s own life or that of others.
