MBABANE – Government commits to ensure that security forces are thoroughly trained and equipped to suppress terrorism in the country.
This is one of the ways in which the administration plans to improve national security. Unpacking the 2023 to 2028 “Nkwe” Policy Statement, Government has stated that the suppression of terrorism would be done in line with the Suppression of Terrorism Act of Terrorism Act No. 3 of 2008.
Government has also committed to equip the security organisations to effectively prevent organised crimes. The security forces, according to Government has also promised to train the security to be able to effectively fight sexual offences and any form of violence, as per the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence (SODV) Act No. 15 of 2018.
Government has further taken upon itself to make use of the security forces to uphold the rule of law. The administration will also use the security forces to maintain peace and public order. A new legislation on crime prevention, according to Government, will also be enacted.
The administration committed to equip the security forces with the right materials so that they could be able to effectively enforce the law.
According to the administration, all security forces would be trained to meet the international standards associated with security, promotion of the rule of law, crowd control, and effective service delivery.
