MBANGWENI – The Shiselweni Region has received rainfall following His Majesty King Mswati III’s visit to the area for the annual Umhlanga Reed Dance Ceremony, with residents now looking forward to ploughing their fields, Regional Administrator (RA) Themba Masuku has said.
Masuku made the remarks during the Shiselweni Business Dinner hosted by Shiselweni Forestry Company in conjunction with the Shiselweni Business Community in honour of His Majesty the King at the Mbangweni Royal Residence on September 17, 2026.
Addressing the gathering, Masuku told the King that the region had been blessed with rainfall following His Majesty’s visit.
“You have left us with rainfall Your Majesty. It is now drizzling outside and we are excited of this blessing as our is to go and plough crops next,” said Masuku.
The Regional Administrator said the rainfall had brought excitement among residents, particularly as communities prepared to begin ploughing their crops.
Masuku also expressed his appreciation for the development of businesses in the Shiselweni Region, saying he was impressed by the progress taking place in the area.
“I am very impressed with development of businesses Your Majesty in the Shiselweni Region,” he said.
He said the King’s visit to Shiselweni for the Umhlanga Reed Dance Ceremony had been an honour for the region and expressed confidence that further development would be visible when His Majesty returns.
“It has been an honour to have His Majesty the King visit the Shiselweni Region for the Umhlanga Reed Dance Ceremony. I am sure when His Majesty the King returns again at Shiselweni, he will be amazed how developed the area would be by that time,” Masuku said.
Giving an example of developments planned for the region, Masuku said a site had been set aside for development, with one of the initiatives being the construction of a BuildIt Hardware.
“For example Your Majesty, the is a site that has been set aside for development of which among the development initiatives would be construction of a BuildIt Hardware,” he said.
Masuku further thanked the King for promoting culture in Shiselweni through the annual Umhlanga Reed Dance Ceremony, which had recently concluded.
“We are also grateful to the King for promoting culture at Shiselweni through the annual Shiselweni Umhlanga Reed Dance Ceremony which had recently ended,” he said.
The remarks came as business stakeholders in the region gathered to honour His Majesty the King while highlighting developments and opportunities within Shiselweni.
The rainfall also added a strong agricultural dimension to the occasion, with Masuku linking the weather to the region’s immediate preparations for the ploughing season.
