MBABANE – The Shiselweni region dominated the Tinkhundla Talent Search Cross-Country National Championships finals.
The finals that featured athletes from the four regions being Shiselweni, Hhohho, Lubombo and Manzini were held at the Mavuso Sports Centre. Present to grace the event was the Minister of Spots, Culture and Youth Affairs Bongani Nzima, Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council (ESRC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Darius Dlomo, Sports Portfolio Committee Chairman Sifiso Shabalala and the Athletics Eswatini (AE) President Zakhele Dlamini among others.
According to a statement from AE, the event brought the nation’s finest athletes together, and they delivered electrifying performances. Athletes competed in different categories being the under-15, under-20 and open categories for both the males and females.
“What a spectacular showcase of talent, determination, and unity. Congratulations to our champions and all participants. You’ve proven that hard work and passion can achieve greatness. Your victories are not just medals but milestones for the future of athletics in Eswatini.
We were honored by the presence of the Minister of Sports, Culture, and Youth Affairs Mr Bongani Nzima, who emphasized the important role Athletics Eswatini, has in nurturing and supporting these athletes as they grow in their careers.
Another huge thank you to the officials, supporters, and partners who made this event a roaring success. Together, we’re shaping the future of athletics in Eswatini,” reads the statement.
AE together they have lit a flame of hope and progress.
“Let us keep the fire burning as we continue to nurture and showcase Eswatini’s incredible talent,” concludes the statement.
The winners from the event are likely to represent the country in regional and international competitions. The AE is yet to make an official statement over these competitions.
