MBABANE – The Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (SMVAF) has expressed concern regarding the rising number of pedestrian accidents.

This was stated by SMVAF Chief Executive Officer (CEO) David Myeni during the Ingwenyama Cup semi-finals draw on Monday at Nkhanini Offices. Myeni urged the public to remain vigilant while using the roads and to adhere to road safety precautions at all times.

“We encourage anyone who has been involved in an accident to contact our offices for assistance. We have observed an increase in accidents involving pedestrians, and we are pleased to have platforms, including the Ingwenyama Cup, to emphasise the importance of road safety,” he remarked.

Myeni also noted that since the resumption of the Ingwenyama Cup, there has been no negative incidents or accidents reported. He stated that this demonstrates the football community’s commitment to road safety.

“We are pleased with the progress of the Ingwenyama Cup. Supporters are attending the matches in large numbers, just as they did during the regional cultural competitions. This indicates that all stakeholders are collaborating effectively towards the success of the tournament, allowing us to convey our road safety messages. People must remember the adage that was popularised during past road safety awareness campaigns: ‘Imoto Ayinamhlabelo,’” he added.

He then congratulated the eight teams that reached the semi-finals in both the men’s and women’s competitions. In the men’s tournament, Royal Leopard will face Young Buffaloes, while Mbabane Swallows will go up against Moneni Pirates. In the women’s tournament, Nsingizini Hotspurs Ladies will play Royal Leopard Ladies, and Green Mamba Ladies will compete against Young Buffaloes Ladies.
