MBABANE – Hard work pays!

This became true when Somnjalose High School yesterday (Thursday, July 11, 2024) hosted a farewell function for 11 staff members for their diligent service throughout the years.

The staff members, which included seven teachers and four support staff members, were described as hardworking by Somnjalose Head teacher Macandza Mamba. He said this during his speech at the farewell function that was held at the school.

Minister of Education and Training Owen Nxumalo commended the teachers for serving the government and people for a long time. “Let’s be a team and be united. I salute you teachers on a job well done,” he said.

The teachers that were honored were Sijabulile Radebe, Lomagugu Dlamini, Esther Thembekile Fakudze , Kenneth Nkambule, Duma Dlamini and Winwar Dupont for their long service in the school.
The event was attended by a number of important guests, including Minister of Education and Training Owen Nxumalo, the representative of Principal Secretary( PS) Lungelo Nhlengetfwa, and inspectors, who witnessed the beautiful work done by these teachers and bid farewell to them as they retired.

The teachers and staff, both retired and current, were joined by Minister Nxumalo in a touching gesture of appreciation at the Somnjalose event. They received gifts, which included an oven stove, a durable relaxation chair, and a fridge.

The gifts were bought with the joint contributions of their former colleagues, SNAT ( Swaziland National Association of Teachers), and the pupils from the school. They were not only practical but also symbolic of the impact these educators and staff members had on the lives of those around them.

In addition, Mamba said they had five goats, which were to be received by the Minister, Mnganiwemakhosi Khumalo, REO, and two chiefs. “They are to also receive personal comfort chairs per person to thank them for their cooperation in the education system,” he said.

The event concluded with an after-party event, where the important guests and the people who were being honoured were served delicious food and a cake baked in their honour of the beautiful work done. As they were conversing and eating, they were also entertained by the pupils with different activities, including Sibhaca and Kofifi dance.
