LOBAMBA – The 2025/26 budget includes significant provisions for the financial sector, focusing on enhancing banking accessibility, improving financial literacy, and modernizing banking regulations.

Minister of Finance Neal Rijkenberg highlighted the need for a robust financial system to support economic growth.

“A well-functioning financial sector is key to sustainable development. This budget supports digital banking, financial inclusion, and regulatory improvements,” Rijkenberg stated.

Financial Sector Budget Breakdown:

  • Total Financial Sector Allocation: E2.7 billion
  • Banking System Modernization: E1 billion
  • Microfinance and SME Credit Programs: E800 million
  • Financial Literacy and Inclusion Campaigns: E500 million
  • Regulatory and Compliance Improvements: E400 million

These investments aim to increase banking access for rural communities and promote financial stability across the nation.

 

Expanding Housing and Urban Development

LOBAMBA – The government has prioritized affordable housing and urban development, ensuring better living conditions for all citizens.

Minister Neal Rijkenberg outlined the government’s plan to improve housing access and urban infrastructure.

“Access to decent housing is a fundamental right. This budget ensures that more emaSwati can afford quality homes while upgrading urban infrastructure,” Rijkenberg stated.

Housing and Urban Development Budget Breakdown:

  • Total Housing Allocation: E3.5 billion
  • Affordable Housing Schemes: E1.4 billion
  • Urban Infrastructure Modernization: E900 million
  • Slum Upgrading Projects: E700 million
  • Public Housing Initiatives: E500 million

With these initiatives, the government hopes to reduce housing shortages and improve urban living conditions.

 

Expanding Manufacturing and Industrial Growth

LOBAMBA – Recognizing manufacturing as a vital economic driver, the government has allocated significant resources to boost industrial production, create jobs, and attract foreign investment.

Minister Neal Rijkenberg stressed the importance of a strong industrial sector.

“We are investing in our manufacturing capabilities to increase exports, create employment, and drive industrialization,” Rijkenberg announced.

Manufacturing Budget Breakdown:

  • Total Manufacturing Allocation: E3.1 billion
  • Factory Construction and Expansion: E1.2 billion
  • Manufacturing Equipment and Technology Upgrades: E900 million
  • Industrial Training and Workforce Development: E600 million
  • Export Promotion and Market Expansion: E400 million

These initiatives are expected to make Eswatini a more competitive player in regional and global markets.

Strengthening Agricultural Resilience and Climate Adaptation

LOBAMBA – With climate change impacting agricultural productivity, the government has dedicated significant funds to improving climate resilience in the agricultural sector. Minister Rijkenberg emphasized the need for sustainable farming practices.

“We are committed to ensuring our farmers have the resources and knowledge to adapt to changing climate conditions,” said Rijkenberg.

Agricultural Resilience Budget Breakdown:

  • Total Agricultural Resilience Allocation: E2.9 billion
  • Climate-Smart Agricultural Training: E1 billion
  • Sustainable Irrigation Systems: E800 million
  • Research on Drought-Resistant Crops: E600 million
  • Renewable Energy for Farming: E500 million

This funding will support farmers in adopting new techniques to enhance food security and economic stability.

Improving Public Health and Disease Prevention

LOBAMBA – The government has significantly increased funding for public health initiatives, focusing on disease prevention, healthcare accessibility, and improved medical infrastructure. Minister Neal Rijkenberg stressed the importance of a healthier nation for economic progress.

“Our investment in healthcare reflects our commitment to ensuring that all citizens receive quality medical care and disease prevention services,” Rijkenberg stated.

Public Health Budget Breakdown:

  • Total Public Health Allocation: E4.2 billion
  • Disease Prevention and Control: E1.5 billion
  • Hospital Infrastructure Upgrades: E1.2 billion
  • Community Health Programs: E900 million
  • Medical Equipment and Supplies: E600 million

These investments will ensure the continued improvement of healthcare facilities and services across the country.
