Police have confirmed the arrest of Mphumelelo Thokozani Manana, who was wanted by the Manzini Fraud Unit in connection with a housebreaking and theft incident that occurred at Standard Bank Manzini on February 12, 2026.

The arrest marks a major step forward in ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal syndicates and enhance public safety across the country.

Background of the Case

According to initial reports, the February 12 incident involved a calculated break-in at the banking facility, where suspects allegedly gained unauthorized access to the premises during non-operational hours. The operation is believed to have been carefully planned, targeting valuable assets and sensitive areas within the bank.

The nature of the crime raised concerns about organized criminal activity, prompting an intensive investigation by the Manzini Fraud Unit. Authorities have since been working to trace suspects, recover stolen items, and establish possible links to similar incidents reported in recent months.

Investigation Progress

Following sustained investigative work and valuable information from the public, law enforcement officers successfully tracked down and apprehended Manana. Police have indicated that the suspect may be connected to additional housebreaking and theft cases, suggesting the possibility of a broader criminal network.

Investigations remain ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence and pursue other potential suspects.

Court Appearance

Manana is expected to appear before the Manzini Magistrate’s Court on Friday, April 10, 2026, where formal charges related to the case will be presented.

Community Partnership Paying Off

REPS has reiterated its appreciation for the critical role played by the public in supporting law enforcement efforts. The arrest highlights the strength of collaboration between citizens and police in combating crime and ensuring safer communities.

Authorities have encouraged the public to continue reporting suspicious activities, emphasizing that community involvement remains a key pillar in the fight against crime.
