MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows left the country for South Africa were they are to play their CAF Champions League first leg match with their heads high after unveiling five new signees.
The five players are former Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows midfielder Bongi Magagula, Ghanaian Karim Madja, former Wits University and Moneni Pirates Biko Sibandze, former Mbabane Highlanders midfielder Emmanuel Owusu and Given Lukhele from Malanti Chiefs.
‘The Birds’ flew out of the country through the Ngwenya Border Posts for the CAF Champions League first leg preliminary against Mozambique Club Ferroviario. The match will be played at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Friday evening, kick-off 7pm.
Swallows welcome the players after the departure of Felix Badenhorst, Neliswa ‘Tiger’ Dlamini, Sandile Hlatshwako and Qiniso Nyawo.
“Mbabane Swallows Football Club has the pleasure to announce the signing of Bongi Magagula, Karim Madja, Biko Sibandze, Emmanuel Owusu and Given Lukhele. The club anticipate that they will add value and take our team to new and higher heights,” reads the statement from the club.
Mbabane Swallows are set to travel to Mozambique for the second leg match to be played August 25 in Maputo. The winners between the two sides will then face South Africa’s giants Mamelodi Sundowns with the winner through to the group stages.
