HLANE – His Majesty King Mswati III, represented by Indvuna Phindile Matsebula, has announced that Umkhandlu will be held today during the second session of the Buganu ceremony at Hlane Royal Residence.

As part of the traditional proceedings, Lutsango (women’s regiment) will receive Tinkuzi (traditional gifts or offerings) and are scheduled to depart on Monday. The Buganu festival, a vibrant celebration of culture and unity, continues to draw thousands of Lutsango members from various parts of the country, highlighting Eswatini’s rich heritage and the significance of the marula season.
The announcement sets the tone for a weekend filled with traditional rituals, dance, and the sharing of Buganu (marula beer), symbolizing gratitude and unity among the Swazi people. The Umkhandlu is a significant council meeting that typically involves deliberations on national matters, making today’s proceedings highly anticipated.
