MBABANE – The United Nations (UN) praises Government for delivering the ‘Nkwe’ Policy Statement and for launching the HIV National Strategic Framework.
This happened yesterday (Monday, October 7, 2024) when Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini received a courtesy visit from the new UNAIDS Country Director Nuha Ceesay and the new UNDP Eswatini Representative Henrik Franklin, who were in the accompany of UN Resident Coordinator His Excellency George Wachira. The meeting took place at Private and Cabinet Offices in Mbabane.
According to the prime minister, they had fruitful deliberations on a number of issues, amongst which was climate finance, youth unemployment and a shared concern on the rising number of new HIV infections amongst adolescents, despite attaining the global target of 95-95-95.
“We reiterated our shared commitment to further strengthening our existing relations with the United Nations and its organs. The UN Family, in turn, congratulated His Majesty’s Government on delivering the “Nkwe” Policy Statement and for launching the HIV National Strategic Framework with NERCHA. We remain grateful to the UN for their support in various strategies and initiatives,” the prime minister said.
