MBABANE – Clubs or members under the Athletics Eswatini will be compelled to register juniors of under-15 and under-20 in an attempt to develop them.
Each club will be expected to include not less than five (5) athletes under the age of fifteen years (15 years), and not less than ten (10) athletes under the age of twenty years (20 years). This has already been communicated to the club through a circular.
AE has faced development challenges, especially in the club and by introducing the new close; they are trying to close that gap.
“In accordance with Article 8.2 of the Athletics Eswatini Constitution, members of the association are informed that with effect from the January 1, 2025, affiliation fee for the year 2025 shall be a sum of Five Hundred Emalangeni (E500-00),” reads part of the memo.
The circular states that members or the clubs are further required to pay license fees for and the juniors with each club expected to have at least 15 juniors both boys and girls.
“Clubs are further advised that the affiliation and license fees are due and payable not later than the last day of February 2025 in accordance with Article 8.3 of the AE Constitution. Thanking you for your anticipated cooperation, please do not hesitate to contact the office for any further information,” concludes the statement.
AE is now facing a challenge of replacing their senior athletes including retired Sibusiso ‘Swazi Bolt’ Matsenjwa who had been dominant since 200.
