KWALUSENI – University of Eswatini (UNESWA) Vice Chancellor Professor Justice Thwala is full of praise for Government for financial support to the learning institution.

Speaking yesterday (Saturday, October 5, 2024) during the UNESWA 42nd graduation ceremony, Professor Thwala said Government had been in full support in financial terms to the university, since it was admitted as a university in 1982. He also praised Government for awarding more than 1 500 scholarships to students this year.

Professor Thwala observed that this was an improvement by Government, as it usually awarded around 1 200 scholarships per year. The vice chancellor quoted former South African President Dr Nelson Mandela, in thanking Government for this commitment.

He said Dr Mandela once described education as a weapon that could be used to by humanity to change the world. He said likewise, the students who were graduating could use their education to change the world.

Thwala congratulated the students for showing resilience until the day they graduated, receiving their different credentials. He said he was very much aware of the challenges they encountered during the course of their programmes, but they would not back down.

Instead, they pressed on until they graduated. The professor also extended his gratitude to the relatives and friends of the graduates. He thanked them for supporting the graduates in order to receive their credentials.
