MBABANE – Vulamasango School learners took their education beyond the classroom through an educational tour that exposed them to Eswatini’s history, culture, skills, entrepreneurship and natural heritage.
The learners visited the Eswatini National Museum, CODEC, Mantenga Cultural Village and Hlane Royal National Park, turning the outing into an opportunity to learn through real-life experiences.
At the National Museum, learners could connect classroom lessons with Eswatini’s history and heritage. Their visit to CODEC exposed them to skills while Mantenga Cultural Village offered a closer look at traditional life, cultural practices and local craftsmanship.
The visit to Hlane Royal National Park added another dimension, allowing the learners to encounter Eswatini’s natural environment and appreciate the importance of protecting the country’s wildlife and natural heritage.
For His Majesty’s Correctional Services (HMCS), the tour was more than a school outing. It formed part of the broader rehabilitation and reintegration journey by giving learners an opportunity to step beyond the correctional environment, interact with the community and experience the world around them.
HMCS places rehabilitation, reintegration and education among areas of its work, making opportunities that develop knowledge, confidence and perspectives valuable for young people.
The Eswatini National Trust Commission, which manages the National Museum and Mantenga Nature Reserve and Cultural Village, promotes educational experiences that help learners understand and appreciate the Kingdom’s cultural and natural heritage.
Such exposure can help learners see their circumstances from a perspective. It creates space to ask questions, discover interests and recognise possibilities that may not be visible within a classroom or correctional environment.
For the Vulamasango learners, the tour was not simply about visiting new places. It was about seeing, experiencing and learning from the country around them.
By taking education into museums, cultural spaces, skills centres and nature reserves, HMCS continues to create experiences that can strengthen confidence and encourage hope.
The journey carries an important message: a young person’s present circumstances do not have to define their future.
Through education, exposure and positive experiences, doors can open to purpose, responsibility and a better tomorrow.
