MBABANE – Minister for Labour and Social Security, Phila Buthelezi has emphasized the importance of peaceful resolution in workplace disputes, urging employees to refrain from damaging property during disagreements with employers.
He made these remarks at a meeting between the Mhlume Constituency (Inkhundla) Council and the community on Monday, 22 July 2024. The gathering was aimed to discuss the allocation of funds towards Inkhundla’s development goals.
“In workplaces, disagreements are common, but it’s disheartening when disputes lead to destruction of machinery and tools essential for work. Such acts jeopardize jobs,” Buthelezi stated.
He also encouraged individuals not only to seek employment but also to develop skills for self-employment.
“Our Ministry prioritizes scholarships aimed at skill development, ensuring individuals can sustain themselves even without formal employment,” he explained.
In other developments, the Mhlume Inkhundla will benefit from a water project underway in Lomahasha. Mhlume Inkhundla Member of Parliament (MP) Sifiso Magagula highlighted the critical need for water in Maphiveni, expressing concern for residents at risk of encountering crocodiles while fetching water from the river.
