SITEKI– Emerging Eswatini artist Mayibongwe Tsela, who performs under the name “Ziyane,” is preparing to make his official entry into the local and regional music scene with his debut single titled “Ngenkhani,” set for release on August 6.

Ziyane explains that the stage name is deeply personal, drawn from his clan’s praise name, anchoring him firmly in Swazi identity. The upcoming track is more than just a song, it’s a mission statement: to push Swazi music onto airwaves and playlists across the country and beyond.

“The word Ngenkhani means ‘noma ngabe awufuni utogcina ufuna’, you might not want to listen, but eventually you will,” he says with conviction. “You’ll turn on the radio and hear Swazi music. On all digital platforms, you’ll find it. Swazi people support their artists, even the young upcoming ones, which is really good.”

Ziyane’s musical journey began in earnest after he finished school in 2023. He describes being inspired by local hip hop artist Young Zesh, whose song “Inhlupheko” left a strong impression on him. Young Zesh’s later track, “Ka Khoza,” cemented him aas a favourite and role model.

“I’ll try by all means to be under his label, Mabonabulawe Records,” Ziyane shares, praising Young Zesh’s skill and influence.

Recognising that Siswati music is gaining traction, Ziyane sees himself as part of the wave pushing it forward, determined that “batoze bavume ngenkhani” (they will have to admit, whether they like it or not) that Swazi music is among the best.

He is also looking ahead: aside from “Ngenkhani,” he’s planning an EP for summer with fellow artist YoungE, which will be released on YouTube and other digital platforms. Meanwhile, he’s cultivating a growing online presence.

“Followers on TikTok and likes give me hope that I can do something. The comments encourage me too,” he says.

Fans can currently find him on TikTok under the handle Ziyane04, with plans to open additional accounts where his music will be available. With “Ngenkhani” poised to be the first of many releases, Ziyane is determined to carry Swazi music proudly and persistently to every possible listener, ngenkhani.
