SITEKI – Despite fierce winds sweeping across the Kingdom, nothing could shake the resolve of the 145 graduates who gathered for the 52nd Graduation Ceremony of the Good Shepherd Catholic College of Health Sciences on May 12, 2026. In a moment rich with symbolism and national pride, the Class of 2025 stepped forward to take the sacred pledge that officially ushered them into Eswatini’s healthcare frontline.
The ceremony was marked by the lighting of candles and the reciting of the pledge — a powerful visual vow of ethics, compassion, and duty. As the winds roared outside, the soft glow of candlelight inside the arena reflected the calm determination of graduates ready to serve.
The importance of the occasion was underscored by the presence of national leadership. His Majesty King Mswati III was represented by HRH Prince Guduza, a clear affirmation of the Throne’s commitment to strengthening the country’s health sector through skilled professionals.
Also in attendance were Acting Prime Minister Dr. Tambo Gina, Minister of Education and Training Owen Nxumalo, Minister of Health Mduduzi Matsebula, and Senator Chief Jozane, highlighting the national significance placed on the graduation of nurses and midwives.
Offering spiritual guidance, Bishop José Luis Ponce de León called on the graduates to anchor their service in Agape Love.
“As you go into hospitals, clinics and communities, let Agape Love be the light that guides your hands and your hearts. Care for every patient not only with skill, but with compassion, dignity and selfless service. This is the love that heals beyond medicine.”
In a formal address delivered on behalf of His Majesty, HRH Prince Guduza reminded the graduates of the responsibility that now rests on their shoulders:
“It gives me great pleasure to stand before you today on this auspicious occasion of the 52nd Graduation Ceremony of the Good Shepherd Catholic College of Health Sciences.
To the Class of 2025, your journey has been one of perseverance and dedication. As you stand here today, ready to enter the noble profession of healthcare, remember that you are the heartbeat of our nation’s health system.
His Majesty has commanded that this be a year of Agape Love and urgent service — the Nkwe! spirit. You are expected to take the skills you have mastered here and apply them with innovation and sustainability. Our health sector faces many challenges, but with your youth, your energy, and the professional integrity you have pledged today, I am confident that the future of Eswatini’s healthcare is in capable hands.
Go forth, serve with compassion, and make the Kingdom proud.”
As the ceremony concluded and the candles slowly dimmed, the graduates walked out of the arena no longer as students, but as the newest guardians of Eswatini’s health system — equipped with knowledge, guided by compassion, and inspired by the Nkwe! spirit.
