GEGE– New homes handed over to vulnerable families in Matsanjeni South and Tsambekwako have transformed years of difficult living conditions into renewed hope, safety and dignity.
Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla officially handed over several homes to beneficiaries during the interventions, bringing relief to families who had been living in unsafe conditions.
At Matsanjeni, Gogo Maroma Ntombizodwa Langwenya received her new three roomed house after the Deputy Prime Minister visited her towards the end of May 2026.
During the visit, the DPM directed Umvalo Wesive (NDMA) to swiftly construct the house after finding that Gogo Maroma’s old home was on the verge of collapsing.
Gogo Maroma, who lives with nine grandchildren, was visibly overwhelmed with joy when she entered her new home. In a jovial mood, she walked around her yard repeatedly saying, “ngingumlungu”, expressing her excitement over the new beginning.
Member of Parliament Sabelo Ndlangamandla praised the Deputy Prime Minister’s efforts, saying, “DPM, you have walked all the 59 Tinkhundla of Eswatini, building. We are so grateful.”
The DPM also recalled her first visit to assess Gogo Maroma’s home, saying, “I left her very touched,” after witnessing the conditions she had been living in.
At Magubheleni, 69-year-old Busisiwe Malinga also received a new three-roomed house. Bucopho Fikile Ngwenya said authorities were aware of her situation and described her previous living conditions as “very bad”.
Malinga expressed her gratitude, thanking God for caring children and reflecting on the hardships she had endured. She said rain used to enter her home and that she had lived in difficult conditions for years.
Meanwhile, at Tsambekwako, brothers Jafta and Helmond Vilakati received a new two-bedroom house built with support from the Eswatini Red Cross Society.
Jafta thanked the Deputy Prime Minister and Their Majesties for remembering them and building them a home. He also prayed for God’s blessings upon the DPM and His Majesty King Mswati III.
A child-headed family also received a new home, with 26-year-old Nokuthula Vilakati, her sister and their four children benefiting from the intervention.
Nokuthula expressed her appreciation to the Deputy Prime Minister during the handover, saying the intervention had brought renewed hope, safety and dignity to her family.
Gege Member of Parliament Hon Magesi Dlamini also commended the initiative, saying, “For the first time Gege Inkhundla receives the beautiful gifts of homes,” describing the DPM’s work as “very big”.
For the beneficiaries, the new homes represent more than structures. They mark a new chapter of security, dignity and hope for families who had endured years of difficult living conditions.
