MBABANE – In a significant boost for local football, Mdzimba View Shisanyama has pledged E50 000 to Ezulwini United, formalizing a partnership aimed at enhancing both sports and entertainment.
The agreement, sealed on Thursday afternoon, brought together key stakeholders, including Ezulwini United administrators, community elders, Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) representatives, and Mdzimba View Shisanyama directors Simon Torgerman and Sicelo Sibandze.
Director Simon Torgerman described the partnership as a “match made in heaven.” He emphasized Mdzimba View’s commitment to giving back to the Ezulwini community, which has consistently supported their ventures.
“We believe this partnership will empower the team to perform better. Local teams face many challenges, and we hope to assist each other. We encourage other companies to follow suit by supporting local clubs. Additionally, Ezulwini United can now utilize Mdzimba View Shisanyama as their home base for events, including fundraising activities,” Torgerman stated.
Ezulwini United’s Management Committee Chairman, Sonkhe Kuhlase, highlighted the longstanding relationship between the team and Mdzimba View. He noted that this collaboration would help bolster the team’s support base.
“This is not just sponsorship; it’s a partnership where both parties will assist each other. As a team rooted in Ezulwini, this partnership aligns perfectly with our values,” Kuhlase explained.
PLE Brand and Marketing Manager, Lindokuhle Mthupha, praised the initiative, stressing the importance of corporate partnerships in sustaining local football clubs.
“Many teams struggle financially, and partnerships like this are essential. Companies benefit significantly from such arrangements, with their brands gaining visibility nationwide through football matches. We urge more companies to collaborate with local teams,” Mthupha said.
Ezulwini United is set to face Tambankulu Celtics on Saturday at Tabankulu Stadium in the Ingwenyama Cup’s last 32 round, with the match scheduled to kick off at 2:30 PM.
This partnership is expected to strengthen both Ezulwini United and the local football landscape, showcasing the positive impact of community-oriented collaborations.
