Mbabane – His Majesty’s Correctional Services (HMCS) Commissioner General (ComGen) LaMakhosini Phindile Dlamini and philanthropist Inkhosikati Busi Dlamini (LaMabuza) have provided generous donations to refugees at the Malindza Reception Centre.
On January 16, 2025, the two humanitarian leaders demonstrated their compassion by donating essential items to ease the lives of the refugees. Inkhosikati LaMabuza contributed 70 live chickens, an initiative supported by the Ministry of Home Affairs. This donation is anticipated to significantly enhance food security for the centre’s residents.
Malindza Reception Centre Estate Manager Bongekile Mamba expressed heartfelt gratitude, urging others to support the refugee community. The chickens, she noted, would be beneficial given the ongoing food challenges. Last Friday, Mamba reported to Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla, who visited the centre alongside Minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development Sikhumbuzo Dlamini and Dvokodvweni Member of Parliament (MP) Sifiso Shabalala, that the centre was only able to provide beans as food for over 1,000 refugees. She lamented the difficulty in diversifying their diet without additional resources.
Meanwhile, the ComGen marked her birthday philanthropic through her LaMakhosini Foundation. Her contributions included sanitary pads, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorants, storybooks, soccer balls, clothes, and toys for the young girls at the centre. This generous act aimed to support the girls’ personal hygiene and overall well-being.
The Refugees Commissioner, Zanele Mlambo, warmly received the donations and expressed her appreciation for the foundation’s efforts. She described the Malindza Reception Centre as “a home away from home” and lauded the LaMakhosini Foundation for bringing hope to the residents, particularly the young women.
