HLANE – The International Women’s Day came at a time when women were also celebrating the second leg of the Buganu ceremony at Hlane Royal Residence.

In recognition of the international day, acting Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Jane Mkhonta-Simelane made her remarks on this day. She also recognised that this day came at a right time when women in the country, under the Lutsango regiment, were also celebrating Buganu ceremony, coupled with the general celebration of the harvest season.

Mkhonta-Simelane stated that a lot of progress was made by the country in empowering women. She said many women were now taking part in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) subjects.

Women also took part in business and trade, coupled with many other fields of study and work. However, Mkhonta-Simelane noted that women still fell victims to a scourge of gender- based violence (GBV). She urged all Emaswati to work together in fighting this bad habit so that women could live in a country where they could thrive and flourish.
